Request of participation for an international study on Achondroplasia

The Brod Group, is science-based health outcomes research group are looking for participants living in the USA

for focus groups and individual telephone interviews to discuss the impact of achondroplasia on the daily lives of children and adolescents and their parents. 

The finding of this study will be used to help identify important outcomes to consider in future studies of achondroplasia.  Also, researchers believe that the results will also be a useful tool to address misconceptions of achondroplasia. 

Requested participants: 

  • CHILDREN/ADOLESCENTS, ages 9 to 17 years, with achondroplasia
  • PARENTS OF CHILDREN/ADOLESCENTS, under 18 years of age, with achondroplasia (1 parent per family)


Participation in the study will include: 

  • Participating in a one-time telephone interview OR in-person focus group.
  • The researchers will ask your thoughts and experiences with achondroplasia in daily life, including general functioning and well-being.
  • What you say during the interview or focus group will not be shared with your doctor or other healthcare provider and will only be used to improve our understanding of the experiences of children and adolescents with achondroplasia, as well as their families.
  • You will receive payment of $125 USD (or equivalent) for participating in a focus group or $75 USD (or equivalent) for participating in an individual telephone interview.
  • The focus group discussion will take about 2 hours, and the telephone interview will take about 1 hour.
